Presentation,

There was a time, as World War I drew to a close, when people started to dance and forget.
Two brothers ; Charles and Stone, newly arrived from the U.S with suitcases full of souvenirs, music, characters and an impressive quantity of balls, clubs and diabolos.
Just for their audience they make everything twirl around. They, however, at all times are very serious, but for their audience this is impossible !

Note of intention,

This project was born from a shared will to create a performance of jugglery for all type of places and for all types of audience. Therefore, Charles and Stone was developed in such a manner that it can be performed in any environment (street, theatre, big top etc.) We decided, as a backdrop, to deal with a theme of the Roaring Twenties.
It is during this period, both joyful and painful, that the world discovered talents such as : Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong, Josephine Baker, Charlie Chaplin etc.
It is also during that period that the circus came to a real turning point, particularly with Enrico Rastelli, the best juggler ever, but also with the birth of the Amar, Bouglione or Pinder Circuses.
Therefore, we decided to recreate this meeting with the two brothers Charles and Stone.
Who are they ?
Jugglers travelling all around the world presenting their show set in the ‘Roaring Twenties’. Technically the show contains a subtle mix of jugglery and magic, with an emphasis on the visual aspect of the show.
Therefore around this « Charlestone » atmosphere we have created Charles and Stone with a wish to make the audience discover, or rediscover, this wonderful historical period again. A time where people danced to forget and celebrate and celebrate again and again.
